The Egyptian national team achieved an important victory by defeating New Zealand 3-1 in a continuation match of Group G of the 2026 World Cup at BC Place Stadium, Vancouver, Canada.

This victory is a historic achievement for Egypt as it is their first win in the World Cup finals in four participations.

New Zealand took the lead first in the 15th minute through a goal by Finn Surman. The goal was scored after Elijah Just's shot was parried by Egyptian goalkeeper Oufa Shobeir, before a corner kick was utilized by Tim Payne to send a cross that was met by Surman's header.
